Leong and Denning crown LSTA champions with one round to go

The Macau racer Charles Leong and his teammate Alex Denning (Ireland) have concluded another successful weekend, being crowned 2025 champions in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia (LSTA) Championship.

With one final round (two races) to go, the pair of drivers from SJM Theodore Racing have already scored enough points to secure the title and a seat in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo World Finals, which will take place in Misano, Italy, after the last round of the championship.

Aiming to secure the title as early as possible, Leong and Denning started the weekend strong at the Malaysian circuit of Sepang, securing a pole start for Race 2 (Sunday) and second place in Race 1 (Saturday).

Curiously enough, the race results were exactly inverted, with the SJM Theodore Racing drivers scoring the maximum points on Saturday in Race 1 and finishing second on Sunday.

Still, the results, translated into championship points, were more than enough to crown the pair and team as the grand winners of this year’s LSTA.

Leong and Denning won six of the first ten races (five rounds) and finished second on four occasions, showing their clear dominance in this championship.

After the race, Leong said, “Amazing job by the team again, and we win the championship. It was a very good team effort, and everyone did the right thing throughout the season. No big mistakes, keeping it consistent, and we win the championship.”

After another two-month break, the LSTA championship will conclude on November 6–7 at Misano, Italy, followed by the Lamborghini Super Trofeo World Finals (LSTWF) on the same track on November 8–9.

Thanks to their title of Asian Champions, Leong and Denning will compete in the World Finals, where they will face champions from Asia, Europe, and North America. Two qualifying sessions and two races determine the world champions of the series.

Leong expects to win LSTWF

To the Times, Leong admitted that he did not know who would be the tougher opposition in the World Finals, but he reaffirmed that he expected to “win it.”

The LSTWF is held annually on a different track from those in the continental series championships.

The event is more than just crowning the World Champions in this racing category. It includes events dedicated to fans and owners of the brand’s vehicles. A Lamborghini owners’ parade, previews of new models, and entertainment in the paddock for fans are also among the activities organized around the event.
