CE explores tech innovation in Beijing’s Silicon Valley

Chief Executive Sam Hou Fai concluded his Beijing visit on Saturday with a tour of Zhongguancun Science Park (Z-Park), known as China’s Silicon Valley, to strengthen cooperation in the high-tech sector and explore advances in next-generation information technology, the Government Information Bureau (GCS) announced.

Accompanied by Secretary for Economy and Finance Anton Tai, chief of the Chief Executive’s Office Chan Kak, and director of the Policy Research and Regional Development Bureau Cheong Chok Man, Sam’s delegation received a guided tour that covered the park’s history, future growth plans, and its leading role in advanced computer technologies.

The delegation also toured three high-tech companies based in the park, specializing in software production, technical services, and the manufacture of supercomputers and servers.

During the visit, the CE underscored Macau’s commitment to building its own high-tech industry, emphasizing the importance of stronger coordination with Beijing in science, human resources, and industrial linkages.

According to the statement, the CE also highlighted opportunities in industrial interconnection, joint ventures, scientific research, and smart city projects.

“Such experience could provide valuable insights for Macau, particularly regarding the planning of the proposed Macau technology research industrial park,” said the CE.

Earlier in 2025, Sam visited key tech hubs in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the Yangtze River Delta region as part of efforts to gain further insights for Macau’s own technological development.

The visit to Z-Park followed the delegation’s participation in Wednesday’s symposium commemorating the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.

It also followed Sam’s meeting on Thursday with China’s Minister of Industry and Information Technology, Li Lecheng, where they discussed Macau’s industrialization and efforts to promote economic diversification through scientific and technological innovation.
