Anxintong Technology (Macau) Co., Ltd., established by the research team of Macau University of Science and Technology, has developed a robot using artificial intelligence to perform Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) consultations, diagnosis, and herbal preparation in three to eight minutes. The system is designed to bring TCM services directly to communities and streamline the consultation-to-medication process.
The project was carried out in collaboration with the Guangdong Provincial Laboratory of Traditional Chinese Medicine in the Hengqin Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone. Three models – professional, public, and streamlined – have been created, incorporating over twenty patented technologies. The robot uses more than 100 standardized recipes, drawing on both medicinal and food-based sources, to ensure consistency in treatments.
Specialized equipment allows for on-site preparation and automated remote dispensing, creating a closed-loop process from consultation to medication. According to the company, this approach aims to improve efficiency while maintaining quality and standardization.
Operational points have been established across the Greater Bay Area, with plans for further expansion, including implementation in locations such as Portugal.
The technology also aligns with ongoing efforts in Macau to integrate scientific research with practical applications in healthcare. Officials and project representatives indicate that the system could serve as a model for combining traditional practices with modern technological solutions in other regions. Ricaela Diputado
