Lucky draws for e-coupons after weekday spending

The Economic and Technological Development Bureau (DSEDT) has announced a three-month city-wide consumption drive starting early October to boost local small businesses, according to a press release. The scheme will see users enter lucky draws for electronic coupons after making purchases during the week, with the coupons redeemable exclusively on weekends. This follows community concern about the struggles facing many small businesses after hundreds of thousands of residents began traveling north to Zhuhai and Guangdong for shopping and entertainment since the border reopening in 2023. The press release noted the e-coupons will be accepted at over 22,000 small and medium-sized enterprises across the city.
