Macau Foundation keen to continue supporting local associations

The Macau Foundation (FM) has reiterated its commitment to helping disadvantaged groups by visiting and supporting different associations in town, according to member of FM board of directors, Eliza Ho.
The foundation is looking to “learn more about the needs of vulnerable groups through visits, and aims to properly manage resources invested by FM,” she said at a recent visit to the Fu Hong Society of Macau. Ms Ho added that the activities that can contribute to citizens’ welfare and help vulnerable groups are among crucial tasks developed by FM.
“Although gaming revenue downturn hurt FM’s income, the foundation will not cut support [programs] addressing the most vulnerable communities in our society,” she said.
The Macau Foundation recalled in a statement that Chief Executive Chui Sai On urged FM to step up its efforts to support Macau’s vulnerable groups. The foundation said it has supported the Fu Hong Society over recent years to help handicapped people explore their artistic potential.
On Friday, the Legislative Assembly president Ho Iat Seng said that FM could channel more funds into social responsibility projects to help those in need. CP
