Macau to host GBA business conference

On the Agenda
Macau will host the fourth Business Conference on Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Development on October 22–23, bringing together business, government and academic representatives to discuss investment, industrial cooperation and access to international markets.
More than 1,000 participants are expected, according to the Commerce and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM), which announced details on October 15. The event returns to Macau after its inaugural edition in 2023.
The conference is jointly hosted by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, Guangdong’s government and the Hong Kong and Macau governments.
Discussions will cover technology commercialization, cooperation between investment funds, biomedicine and health industries, and links between tourism, culture and exhibitions. The plenary session will address industrial supply-chain resilience and regional cooperation.
Organizers plan to release a 2026 GBA supply-chain promotion report and present a shared arbitrator mechanism for Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau. Business matching sessions and visits to local enterprises are also scheduled.
IPIM said the program aims to connect regional businesses with international opportunities and encourage investment partnerships. The announced reports and mechanisms remain scheduled outcomes, with implementation details yet to be outlined in the release.
The meeting comes amid developments in regional transport and logistics. On October 13, an electric container vessel began operating between Guangzhou’s Nansha port and Hong Kong, according to CCTV. The vessel can carry 240 standard containers and uses batteries that can be recharged or exchanged.
Meanwhile, a free intercity rail connection scheme expanded to Shenzhen airport on October 15, Nanfang Metropolis Daily reported. Eligible passengers on China Southern and China Eastern services can claim tickets covering a network of seven cities, including six within the GBA.
These services provide a practical backdrop to the conference’s discussions on industrial cooperation, linking production centers, international shipping facilities and airports serving businesses across southern China.
