Central SOEs urged to deepen GBA investment

Officials from Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau jointly promoted Greater Bay Area investment opportunities to centrally administered state-owned enterprises, encouraging greater participation in strategic industries and infrastructure. According to 南方日渴 (Nanfang Daily), the promotion highlighted the region’s integrated strengths in finance, advanced manufacturing, artificial intelligence, shipping and professional services, while aligning investment priorities with China’s upcoming 15th Five-Year Plan. Guangdong officials said closer cooperation between SOEs and local governments would accelerate industrial upgrading, cross-border innovation and major infrastructure projects across the 11-city cluster. The event also emphasized the Greater Bay Area’s role as one of China’s principal engines for technological innovation and high-quality economic growth, with authorities seeking stronger collaboration between mainland cities and Hong Kong and Macau.
