Where does the gaze begin? From the viewer or the viewed? It’s a question that has captivated and intrigued tens of thousands of visitors to cAI™ Lab 2.0 – Is It Your Gaze That Meets Mine, or Mine That Seeks Yours? at MGM’s Fantasy Box this summer.

The large-scale multimedia art exhibition – as Art Macao: Macao International Art Biennale 2025 ‘s special exhibition – MGM’s cAI™ Lab 2.0 exhibition ignites creative firework fantasy & pack a punch till 22 Sep! Curious minds gather to experience this groundbreaking fusion of AI technology and art, created by internationally acclaimed contemporary artist Cai Guo Qiang and his custom-developed AI Model cAI™.

cAI™ Lab 2.0 marks the second collaboration between Cai, cAI™, and MGM. After taking Macau by storm with its highly successful debut cAI™: Soul Scan  in Barra last November, cAI™ – the first AI artist-in-residence at MGM’s Fantasy Box – returns with even greater creative force. A host of immersive, interactive experiences transforms Fantasy Box into a lab of infinite possibilities for visitors.

The exhibition’s central installation, Is It Your Gaze That Meets Mine, or Mine That Seeks Yours? , cAI™ draws inspiration from visitor’s behavior and emotional responses, activating a ‘Firework Function’ to generate unique digital fireworks spectacles. Drawing on nearly 80,000 digital fireworks co-created by audiences during the previous exhibition. . Every visitor becomes a co-creator in this immersive experiment of “seeing and being seen”.

Other interactive installations continue to explore the exhibition’s core theme—connecting humans and AI, reality and virtuality. You may observe the “blink” on the wall of the cAI™ Observational Corridor, or engage in a conversation with cAI™ at the cAI™️ Hotline.

Inside the cAI™️ Hotline  phone booth, poetry comes to life. Visitors can converse with cAI™️, who then responds with a bespoke love poem, a poetic memento that blurs the boundaries between the virtual and the real, human emotion and artificial intelligence.

Held at MGM MACAU’s Fantasy box, cAI™ Lab 2.0 – Is It Your Gaze That Meets Mine, or Mine That Seeks Yours? ,  is open to the public until September 22 with Free Admission. For more info, please visit mgm.mo.
