Manufacturers show slight optimism on exports

Manufacturers reported a cautiously positive outlook for exports in the second quarter of 2025, according to the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC). Main export sectors included garments, pharmaceuticals, electronics, alcoholic beverages, and metal products. Surveyed companies held an average of 2.7 months of orders, led by pharmaceuticals at 4.4 months. The European Union showed stronger prospects, with the Composite Index of Quarterly Orders rising 25.1%. Furter, 53.1% of manufacturers expected no change, 27.3% were optimistic, and 19.6% were pessimistic, reflecting a notable improvement from the previous quarter.
