Customs seizes 141 phones in smuggling cases

Customs intercepted eight suspected smuggling cases at the Border Gate and Qingmao checkpoints, seizing 141 used mobile phones, between Sept. 7 and Sept. 11. Eight individuals, aged 15 to 34 from Macau and the mainland, were prosecuted under the Foreign Trade Law, which carries fines up to MOP50,000, with the confiscated goods forfeited. As one suspect is a student, the Education and Youth Development Bureau was notified. Customs urged travelers to comply with laws and avoid illicit transport activities.
