Merchandise exports rise 24% in first half

The city’s merchandise exports increased 24% year on year to MOP8.22 billion in the first half of 2026, while imports rose 24.6% to MOP74.33 billion, according to the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC). Total external merchandise trade reached MOP82.55 billion, with a trade deficit of MOP66.12 billion. Re-exports grew 25.2% to MOP7.40 billion, while domestic exports rose 14.8% to MOP819 million. In June, exports surged 32.7% year on year, while imports increased 24.4%.
