MGM resorts earn platinum certification for health-focused building standards

MGM’s two integrated resorts, MGM Macau and MGM Cotai, have been awarded the WELL Building Standard v2 Platinum certification by the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI), recognizing their performance in health-focused building design and operations. The certification ceremony and thematic session were held on June 9 at MGM Cotai, attended by more than 100 guests from government, industry, and academia.
Both properties achieved a score of 121 points, the highest among publicly disclosed WELL projects in China, and became the first integrated resort operator in Macau to implement WELL at scale. The certification evaluates buildings across 10 categories, including air, water, light, nourishment, movement, and mental well-being.
IWBI representatives noted that MGM has integrated health and sustainability across its operations, covering more than 750,000 square meters and benefiting over 67,000 people. They said the achievement sets a benchmark for the hospitality sector in Macau and the wider region.
