The Sheraton Grand Macao Hotel and the St. Regis Macao yesterday held the “Starwood Development Program Commencement and Promotion Ceremony” today to celebrate the enrolment of more than 146 local students in the hotels’ work-study program run in partnership with the City University of Macau.
Providing both practical and on-the-job experience, according to a statement from Starwood, the program commits to developing local youth toward becoming the future leaders of Macao’s hotel industry.
Yesterday’s ceremony both welcomed the arrival of new students to the program, as well as congratulating those who have been in the program for some time and have been promoted.
“There is a very strong demand for tourism professionals here in Macao and we recognize the importance of developing our students towards the long-term sustainability of the tourism industry,” said Rachel Chan, general manager for human resources at the Sheraton Grand and St. Regis. “Our aim is to actively train and grow the pool of local [talented youth]”.
ctm announce mop140,000 donated in first half of 2016
Companhia de Telecomunicações de Macau (CTM) has announced that more than MOP140,000 was donated in the first half of 2016, distributed to three social service organizations, through participation in the CTM Bonus Point Donation Scheme.
According to CTM, over 8.3 million CTM bonus points were contributed by customers between January and June, which resulted in the donation split between Macau Red Cross, Orbis Macau and World Vision of Macau Association to support their charity work.
A new scheme, along the same lines, has been launched for the second half of this year. It will invite seven more local charitable associations as beneficiaries.
Under the new scheme, for every 4,000 CTM bonus points, equal to MOP20 donated by a customer, the company will match the donation, also contributing MOP20.
