Manx TT rider Michael Evans is set to make his debut at the local Grand Prix (GP) next month, the rider told news media Isle of Man (IOM) Today.
“A couple of months ago I was invited to ride at the 70th anniversary Macau GP, and I’m really excited to be going to China in November for all the activities there and to race around the iconic street circuit. Especially [to have] the honor of representing the Isle of Man,” he was quoted saying by IOM Today.
The 30-year-old rider from Santon, made only his third TT appearance this year after having secured two top-ten in both the TT and the Supertwin race.
The former winner of the Manx Grand Prix (different competition) in Junior and Senior categories in 2017, recorded in 2022 his personal best lap of the Mountain Course at 125.536mph.
Evans is set to be the first IOM rider to make his appearance in Macau’s Guia Circuit since Dan Kneen and Conor Cummins.
IOM riders have been historically involved with the Macau GP event since Danny Shimmin in the 1980s.
