MPay among first three global e-wallets to support Huawei watch

A wearable payment technology was recently introduced in Macau, representing a development in the local digital payment landscape.

As reported by China Daily, Huawei announced a strategic collaboration with Macau Pass during a launch event in Malaysia earlier this week, where the tech giant revealed its latest products, including the Huawei Mate X5 | Ultimate Design.

Through the partnership, Macau’s leading e-payment platform has become one of the first three global e-wallets to support the Huawei Watch.

“We’re honored to partner with global technology leader Huawei as one of the first three international e-wallets to support the Huawei Watch,” Macau Pass chairman and CEO Sun Ho said, adding that the collaboration is a notable innovation in Macau’s financial technology industry.

Users of the new technology can link their MPay accounts to the Huawei Watch, allowing them to make payments simply by tapping their wrist. This feature is particularly convenient during physical activities such as fitness regimens and outdoor recreation.

With the use of encryption technology, the system also ensures secure transactions and prevents QR code fraud for users, the news report stated.

“Technology exists to serve humanity,” Huawei Device Business Hong Kong director Dickson Yang said. “This collaboration will drive innovation in wearable payment technology, with plans to explore further partnerships in various sectors, aiming to build a comprehensive ecosystem for wearable devices.”

Meanwhile, the local payment services company received the Huawei Outstanding Ecosystem Award 2025 at the launch event. Staff Reporter
