New commissioner appointed for Beijing’s Foreign Affairs Office in Macau

China’s central government has appointed Bian Lixin as the new commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China in the Macau Special Administrative Region, replacing Liu Xianfa, Xinhua reported Friday. Liu completed his tenure last week after five years in the post, where he oversaw cooperation in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Macau’s international projection, and central-local coordination on foreign policy. Prior to her appointment, Bian served as director-general of the Department of Personnel at China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
