Extreme sports legend Travis Pastrana will once again bring his Nitro Circus Live to Macau. With heart-stopping performances, the show will take place this weekend where spectators will see an all-new show at the Venetian Macau with a newly designed set.
It is also the first time in Nitro Circus Live history that the show is going “retro” – the entire performance has been choreographed and styled as a 1920s, Barnum & Bailey style circus.
Speaking to the Times, Travis Pastrana promised a new and massive show this weekend.
“This is an entirely new show this time around at The Venetian Macao – new riders, new vision, new theme, new costumes, and a whole bunch of new, massive, world firsts that have never been seen anywhere in Asia,” he said. “We’ve got a 300kg snowmobile going upside-down, we’ve got the only guy in the world doing an FMX double backflip.”
Moreover, the Nitro Circus Live founder told the Times, in an e-mail interview, that he enjoyed the local crowd’s response during the previous Nitro Circus show here: “We love coming to new places, and I’ve heard from all the guys who were [there] last year that the crowd at the Venetian Macao was really loud and super responsive,” Pastrana added.
Travis Pastrana also shared with the Times his observations on snowmobile rider Daniel Bodin and mountain bike rider Ethen Roberts, who will also participate in Nitro Circus Live this weekend.
Mr Pastrana spoke highly of the two sportsmen and revealed that both are going to bring some spectacular moves with them.
“We call Daniel Bodin the Viking, because he’s Swedish, and because he’s an absolute bad-
ass. He’s unbelievably skilled on a snowmobile, on a quad bike, and on an FMX bike. He can do it all. He’ll be riding a snowmobile at The Venetian Macao and you won’t believe the stuff he can do on that massive machine. It’s crazy.
“Ethen [Roberts] is one of those kids who can just do anything. He rides BMX, he skates, he does the contraptions, but he’s really made the mountain bike his own now. He does a couple of world firsts, including the scorpion double backflip, which he invented and you’ll have to see to believe.”
Meanwhile, the Times also managed to speak to Daniel Bodin and Ethen Roberts. Both X Games players said that they are excited about coming to town.
Daniel Bodin said that he enjoyed being in control of a heavy snowmobile. “The snowmobile weighs over 200 kilos so it’s pretty scary to flip one and it doesn’t have the same suspension as a bike. But it’s a great feeling… And the crowd loves it.”
Having never been to Macau before, the Swedish snowmobile rider said that he is looking forward to the trip and “can’t wait to see everybody’s faces after our show.”
The same thrill Mr Bodin has in being able to control a vehicle is shared by Ethen Roberts. He believes that, during the performance, it is “a feeling of controlled chaos.” “Nothing scares me more, but there’s no other place I would rather be,” he explained.
Mr Roberts also revealed that he is going to present an unseen trick here in Macau. “I have a trick called a ‘Scorpion Double Backflip’ – no one in the world has ever done it before.”
