The Judiciary Police (PJ) arrested 84 individuals involved in illegal money exchanges for gambling, seizing HKD9.6 million in cash and casino chips from Nov. 30 to Dec. 30. Among those arrested were nine local residents, one Hong Kong resident, and 74 mainlanders. The suspects have been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office. The police have conducted five operations against money-changing syndicates, significantly disrupting their activities around Macau casinos. The arrests follow the enactment of the law on combating illegal gambling crimes on Oct. 29.
