PJ arrests mainland man for RMB173,600 fraud

The Judiciary Police (PJ) arrested a 32-year-old mainland man for defrauding a middle-aged mainland woman of RMB173,600. The victim agreed on June 11 to exchange the amount for HKD200,000 in casino chips during a hotel room transaction in Taipa. After she transferred the funds, the suspect claimed banking issues and refused to complete the deal, then went missing. He was intercepted last Saturday at the Taipa ferry terminal. Investigations revealed he had received the money and spent it all. The case, involving fraud of a very large amount, has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office.
