MGM has long been committed to infusing the spirit of “originality + innovation” into its cultural tourism experiences, curating a rich spectrum of distinctive arts and cultural programs that introduce the excellence of traditional Chinese culture to global audiences. Following the successful launch of the Silk Roads Beyond Borders exhibition at the POLY MGM MUSEUM last October, the Museum is unveiling an innovative and pioneering extension program—Museum Encounter – The Tang Story, an immersive themed journey that commenced on February 28. Through this new program, MGM continues to embody the expansive grandeur of Chinese culture, offering visitors from around the world a tailor‑made, cross‑generational exploration of art, entertainment, and heritage.
Anchored in the core concept of a “living museum,” Museum Encounter breaks away from traditional exhibition viewing. Professional performers serve as guides and historical characters, leading audiences into the world of the Tang dynasty—bringing cultural relics “to life” and transforming visitors from observers into active participants. Drawing inspiration from cinematic storytelling and immersive theatre, this themed journey expands on the content of the Silk Roads Beyond Borders exhibition, turning the history, figures, and cultural exchanges of the Tang era into a multi‑threaded narrative where hundreds of artifacts become key characters. As visitors move throughout the Museum, they encounter and interact with different personalities, experiencing their own personalized “Silk Road” story.
This initiative allows history to be experienced, civilization to be felt, and legends to be engaged with—redefining how cultural exchange and heritage can be interpreted and passed on. Museum Encounter runs every Saturday and Sunday beginning February 28, with tickets already on sale.
Tracing the Past and Present of the Overland Silk Road
The POLY MGM MUSEUM launched the Silk Roads Beyond Borders exhibition last October. Rooted in the cultural heritage of the Belt and Road and framed by the intangible cultural legacies of both East and West, the exhibition presents four thematic chapters and more than 200 rare artifacts, vividly illustrating the grandeur of millennia‑long civilizational exchange along the Silk Road. The Museum remains dedicated to presenting a diverse lineup of arts and cultural programs inspired by the exhibition, offering audiences of all ages immersive cultural experiences that transcend time.

Looking ahead, MGM will continue to leverage the POLY MGM MUSEUM as a dynamic cultural hub, strengthening cross‑sector collaboration to create cultural tourism experiences that are both profound in depth and broad in vision. These ongoing efforts contribute to Macau’s development as a platform for exchange and cooperation, where “Chinese culture serves as the mainstream and diverse cultures coexist.”
