Members propose closer Macau-Guangxi ties to boost tourism goals

Members of the Guilin Municipal Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) have called for deepening cooperation between Guangxi and Macau.

The proposal came during the sixth session of the sixth Guilin Municipal CPPCC Conference, which concluded late last week.

The session elected Luo Shijian as chairman of the Guilin Municipal CPPCC.

During the session, all committee members engaged in thorough study and discussion of key documents, including the speech delivered by Li Chu, secretary of the Municipal Party Committee, the government work report, and the draft outline of the 15th Five-Year Plan.

Participants actively offered policy recommendations, conducted in-depth consultations, and worked to build broad consensus, achieving substantial outcomes.

The Macau delegates, leveraging the complementary strengths of Guangxi and Macau, presented a series of proposals aimed at fostering deeper bilateral cooperation.

Their recommendations centered on three key pillars: cultural and tourism integration as the core focus, sports cooperation as a new engine for growth, and the wellness industry as an emerging development frontier.

The members unanimously agreed that the convening of this session has established a new platform for deepening collaboration between Guangxi and Macau.

They expressed confidence that joint efforts by both regions will inject strong momentum into local development through sustained, practical cooperation across various sectors, adding that focusing on cultural and tourism integration, leveraging sports cooperation as a catalyst, and developing the wellness industry as a new growth area “will bring fresh vitality to Guilin’s pursuit of world-class tourism destination status.” Ricaela Diputado
