The Roadhouse to hold fundraising event for Hato victims

The Roadhouse Macau will hold its second edition of “Rock for Relief” on Friday to raise funds for victims of the recent, deadly Typhoon Hato.

The bar held the first edition of “Rock For Relief” in July to raise funds for victims of the fires in Portugal and London as well as the Sichuan landslide. A total of MOP55,000 was raised and was divided equally between the three causes.

This time, with support and donations from Galaxy Entertainment, the company announced that the event will feature a lucky draw with prizes that include accommodation, dining and shopping vouchers.

Speaking to the Times, Tess Carruthers, owner and managing director at The Roadhouse Macau stressed that the restaurant and bar has always been involved in raising funds for victims of disasters, and associations who are in need of support.

“We’ve always been helping others. So being here, as locals, we are very much obliged to work hard to make sure we’re going to raise more funds for the victims because we’ve seen how badly some people have been hit,” said Carruthers.

One hundred percent of the profits and all proceeds from the night will be donated to the cause.

Using the slogan “This Time It’s Personal,” Carrruthers explained that the catchphrase was intended to encourage residents to be involved in the event, as money raised for the cause will directly assist Hato victims.

“In addition to all the proceeds, we will also be giving away happy hour vouchers, our own dining vouchers, some merchandise, and especially bottles of whiskey,” she noted.

The owner also stressed that their top priority is to support those in need, citing its support for ARTM.

“We are trying to reach out to more charitable associations. It’s important and personal to us. We love extending our hands and hearts to the locals and [other people] outside Macau,” said Carruthers.

The owner noted that the group does not have a specific monetary goal, but still hopes the community gets behind the event and contributes to the funds raised. The event kicks off at 5 p.m. LV
