Over 30 Sands Cares Ambassadors and their families visited the Former Chong Sai Pharmacy on Rua das Estalagens earlier this week, marking the centenary of Dr. Sun Yat Sen’s passing.

Established in 1893, the pharmacy was Macau’s first private clinic offering Western medicine by a Chinese doctor, leaving a significant mark on the city’s history.

The visit provided participants with an insightful tour of the site, exploring Sun Yat-sen’s lasting influence on Macau and the city’s transformation over time.

The group also visited local businesses, including those part of Sands China’s Entrepreneurship Recruitment Programme, which supports the area’s revitalization by fostering local SMEs.

Wilfred Wong, executive vice vhairman of Sands China, emphasized the importance of preserving cultural heritage and fostering community growth.

Sands China’s ongoing efforts to revitalize Rua das Estalagens also include the release of a new bilingual publication, “In Search of Its Roots,” highlighting the street’s rich history.
