Sociedade de Jogos de Macau (SJM), which was formed by Stanley Ho, ended 2014 at the top of the leaderboard of gaming operators with a share of just over 23 pct, according to data compiled by Lusa from the operators.
The data shows that SJM held on to the number one position and also has the most gaming spaces – 20 out of 35 casinos.
In second place came Las Vegas Sands, owned by US magnate Sheldon Adelson, with a share of over 22.5 pct, but still half a percentage point behind SJM.
Although it has been very strong in the last months and fighting for second position, Galaxy Resorts, with Hong Kong interests led by Lui Che-woo, ended last year with a share of around 21 pct, but still trails well behind its competitors.
In the second half of the tables came Melco Crown, where one of the shareholders is Lawrence Ho, son of Stanley Ho, maintaining the trend over the year with a share of a fraction over 13 pct, followed by Wynn Resorts, owned by magnate Steve Wynn, almost three points behind.
Trailing behind Wynn Resorts came MGM China with a market share slightly over 9.5 pct. MGM China is led by Pansy Ho, daughter of Stanley Ho. MDT/Lusa
