SMG issues second red rainstorm warning amid heavy localized rain

The Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau (SMG) issued its second red rainstorm warning of 2026 yesterday as a trough of low pressure and a southwesterly airstream triggered thunderstorms west of the Pearl River Estuary moving towards Macau. Heavy, highly localized rainfall was recorded, with the northern Macau Peninsula seeing 75.2mm in one hour, while Coloane recorded just 0.8mm. Authorities expect unsettled weather with frequent heavy showers over the next two days and urged the public to stay alert.
