Upcoming English Premier League off the air

Local broadcaster TDM will not broadcast the upcoming season of the English Premier League as the rights are too expensive.  This has come at a time in which the network should be especially prudent with its spending, explained TDM chairman Manuel Pires.
Pires revealed on Saturday that TDM has been, over the last six months, trying to negotiate a deal. “But unfortunately we could not come to an agreement with the company that owns the rights for Greater China, which includes Macau. Therefore, for next season, we will not be able to broadcast live any games of the English Premiership,” he revealed.
However, the chairman said they would try to locate other alternatives, namely the Spanish League. “Hopefully, in a short time, we could have some good news. We have already confirmed the Champions League and the Europa League for the next three seasons.”
