Sands China, SJM announce 2025 bonuses; Sands to raise staff salaries

Sands China and SJM Resorts announced discretionary bonuses for 2025, completing pledges from all six casino operators in Macau.

The special one-month bonus statements follow similar announcements last week from Galaxy Entertainment Group, Melco Resorts, Wynn Resorts, and MGM China. However, Sands China emerges as the only Macau casino operator to publicly disclose salary increases.

Sands China, the fifth concessionaire to publicly disclose salary bonuses for eligible full-time staff, will pay a one-month salary bonus on Feb. 6 to non-management staff employed for at least one year. Meanwhile, management bonuses are contingent on “individual performance, the company’s Management Incentive Plan, and financial results,” the company stated yesterday.

Sands China CEO Grant Chum hailed 2025 as “a remarkable year.” In a staff message, he said achievements were “underpinned by the team’s robust collaboration and execution,” including over 1.1 billion visitors, NBA China Games at Venetian Arena, and 600 “tourism+” events in MICE, entertainment, sports, and culture.

“In recognition of their efforts over the past year, we are pleased to announce a discretionary bonus and a salary increase,” Chum stated in a message to team members.

New salaries for Sands employees start March 1, “benefiting 99% of Sands China’s nearly 28,000 team members,” the company stated.

Full-time staff earning up to MOP16,000 monthly before taxes will receive MOP500 raises, equating to 3.1-4.0% increases. Those above this range receive 2.0%.

Meanwhile, new hires will qualify for prorated bonuses “if they joined the company before Oct. 1, 2025, and are still employed on the bonus payout date,” stated Sands.

Regarding SJM Resorts, the company wrote in an internal memo dated Jan. 9 that it will pay eligible employees a special discretionary bonus equal to one month’s salary on Jan. 30, 2026.

As seen by the Times, the memo addressed 2025 as an “extraordinary chapter” for SJM. It credited staff for supporting the Macau SAR government’s transition of satellite casinos and personnel, as well as completing the L’Arc Hotel acquisition to support its market presence.

“In appreciation of the team’s contributions and commitment over the past year, the company is pleased to announce a Special Discretionary Bonus, equivalent to one month’s salary, to all eligible employees,” said SJM.
