Women detained in illegal currency exchange operation

The Judiciary Police (PJ) arrested two mainland Chinese women during inspections around casino zones in Cotai and the NAPE district on 23 February, seizing over HKD70,000 in cash and gaming chips. In one case, a 27-year-old suspect allegedly exchanged RMB47,000 for HKD50,000 in chips. Police said she had been conducting illegal exchange activities in Macau since October 2025, earning about HKD200 for every RMB10,000 exchanged, with total illicit gains reaching around HKD60,000. In another case, a 56-year-old woman was suspected of conducting two exchanges totaling HKD60,000.
