On Wednesday morning, a group of approximately ten workers reportedly attempted to jump from the Grand Lisboa Cotai construction site in order to obtain their overdue salaries, according to a report by Jornal Va Kio.
The group of males comprised of mainland residents only, aged between 24 to 51 years old.
The workers were all sitting on a construction balance, around 60 meters above ground level. Four of them came down after communicating with negotiators, staff from the Labour Affairs Bureau (DSAL), and representatives of their employers. The last man descended at around 6 p.m.
Afterwards, the group of workers were sent to the police, DSAL and to other responsible parties.
Earlier in May, over 40 expatriate workers required help from a local association to get their salaries, which had been overdue for four months. Only around 20 of them visited Macau in person to seek help from the authorities. The rest were unable to cross the border as their companies had canceled their visas to Macau.
