Wynn Macau has donated MOP80 million to the University of Macau Development Foundation (UMDF) in support of education and young people’s determination to succeed, the casino operator said in a press release.
Wynn said that sponsoring educational institutions through scholarships and donations is among the company’s “far-reaching corporate social responsibility initiatives.”
“To support the long-term development of the University of Macau and its Asia-Pacific Academy of Economics and Management (APAEM), Wynn Resorts (Macau) S.A. recently donated MOP80 million to the University of Macau Development Foundation,” it announced.
The casino operator says that its recent donation is part of a long-term commitment to UMDF that dates back to 2011. The donation is intended to support APAEM’s “independent and pioneering research conducted by outstanding researchers, societal leaders, and business managers.”
“APAEM boasts a strong teaching and advisory team comprised of well-
known scholars and business leaders, including three Nobel Prize laureates serving on its Honorary Advisory Body,” it added.
The president of Wynn Macau Ltd, Gamal Aziz, said, “We are committed to supporting Macau’s pursuit of quality education,” adding that “we believe developing future local leaders is crucial to the city’s success and sustainability. With our ongoing commitment to supporting UM, we aim to prepare Macau’s younger generation for bigger opportunities and to play a significant part in contributing to the city’s future.”
UM’s rector, Wei Zhao, thanked Wynn Resorts for its donation, and said that UM is committed to pursuing academic excellence, as well as nurturing outstanding graduates and the future leaders of Macau.
