Xia Baolong pays visit for inspection and research

The director of the Hong Kong and Macao Work Office of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and director of the State Council’s Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office, Xia Baolong, will visit Macau from today to May 13.
His visit aims to assess Macau’s latest social and economic developments and review the work of the new Macau Special Administrative Region (SAR) government.
The upcoming visit will be Xia’s first to Macau since the current administration, led by Chief Executive Sam Hou Fai, took office in December last year.
Yesterday, Sam welcomed Xia’s visit, expressing gratitude for Beijing’s continued support and pledging to ensure the MSAR visit is successful.
During this visit, Xia will meet local officials and community groups to gain a comprehensive understanding of Macau’s current situation. He has expressed confidence that Sam’s new government will unite and lead all sectors of society effectively.
Xia last visited Macau in May of the previous year, describing the city as the “apple of the country’s eye” and encouraging it to leverage its business strengths, economic foundations, and cultural diversity to advance its development as an international metropolis. NS
