Alexis Tam awards Ung Vai Meng

Alexis Tam, Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture, honored departing president of the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC), Ung Vai Meng, in a ceremony which  took place last Friday at IC’s Spring Dinner. Tam praised Ung’s job performance over his almost seven years at the helm of the IC. “Since taking office on March 1, 2010 [Ung Vai Meng] has shown a high sense of duty in serving the IC. He has demonstrated great dedication, loyalty, diligence and responsibility in implementing policies in the field of culture, development of cultural infrastructure and protection of the region’s cultural heritage.” He added that Ung had made “a decisive contribution to the achievement of relevant outcomes.” Tam also noted Ung’s dedication to public service to which he had put all his “cultural knowledge and artistic skills. The distinction will soon be published in the Official Gazette. At the same event, Secretary Tam officially announced that the current IC vice president, Leung Hio Ming, will take office as the new IC president from February 17.
