Average hotel occupancy rate up 3.1% y-o-y
The Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) said that, according to industry figures, hotel establishments in Macau averaged 91.3% occupancy during the National Day holiday, up 3.1% from the same period in 2025.
The same tourism authority noted that average hotel occupancy peaked at 97% on October 2 (the second day of the seven-day holiday), while visitor numbers peaked on the fourth day, Oct. 4.
The average room rate for local hotels (including hotels, apartment hotels, and budget accommodations) was about MOP1,677.30, representing a year-over-year (y-o-y) decrease of 1.7% from last year.
The MGTO also noted that during the holiday period, the office partnered with police authorities to conduct 187 inspections at various ports of entry, tourist attractions, shopping areas, and hotels, among other locations.
Regarding illegal accommodation, MGTO said it received 22 complaints about apartments allegedly operated as illegal accommodation and, after inspection, found that four of those units were, in fact, engaged in illegal activity.
In the other inspections, MGTO reported finding no irregularities.
Additionally, the 24-hour tourism hotline 2833 3000 received another 27 inquiries and complaints from visitors, mainly about hotel reservations, traffic, and tourism service quality. RM
