Breaking News: China opens visa applications for Macau foreign residents

The Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China in Macau SAR will gradually start to accept China’s mainland visa applications for foreign residents of the region from March 1.

The applications will be received through China Online Visa Application (COVA) system to help cater to the “needs of cultural exchanges and economic development,” the office announced in a statement today.

At this stage, priority is given to applications for M and F visas, where applicants should submit an invitation letter from a trade partner in China, or from trade fairs for M visa or an invitation letter issued by a relevant entity or individual in China for an F visa.

The office started to use the China online visa application and appointment for visa application earlier today at 4 p.m..

Applicants are required to log in to the website (https://cova.mfa.gov.cn) to fill out the electronic visa application form online and make an appointment with the date and time.

Macau non-resident workers are not yet included in the initial plan.
