The Public Security Police (PSP) has identified 58 illegal workers in June, according to a statement released by PSP and the Labour Affairs Bureau. The two bureaus inspected over 459 locations, including construction sites, private and commercial buildings, and industry facilities. In total, 426 illegal workers have been found in the first half of 2019.

Lawmaker worried about abandoned pets

Lawmaker Pereira Coutinho has written an inquiry to the local government regarding the adoption of abandoned pets. In his inquiry, Coutinho referenced the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM)’s procedures in handling pets delivered to the bureau by residents. He asked the government to explain what why some healthy animals handled by the IAM were not given to animal protection groups to prepare for adoption.

Forex reserves edged up 1.3% last month

Macau’s foreign exchange reserves amounted to 166.4 billion patacas (USD20.68 billion) at the end of June 2019, according to the latest update provided by the Monetary Authority of Macao. The reserves increased by 1.3% from the revised value of the previous month. Overall, the exchange rate of the pataca declined against the currencies of Macau’s major trading partners on a monthly basis. The foreign exchange reserves at the end of June represented 10 times the currency in circulation.
