CEM warns public over fake electricity bill scam texts

Power utility CEM has warned residents about fraudulent text messages impersonating the company and attempting to trick users into clicking phishing links linked to fake electricity bill payments. CEM said it immediately reported the incident to the government’s cybersecurity center after becoming aware of the scam and issued alerts through its official platforms. The company stressed that its SMS notifications – including payment reminders and application updates – never contain website links.
