Dynasty-8-Awarded-‘Two-Wine-Glasses’-at-the-2015-China-Wine-List-Awards_group-photoConrad Macao’s signature Chinese restaurant Dynasty 8 has been awarded ‘Two Wine Glasses’ at the 2015 China’s Wine List of the Year Awards for the second year in a row. Receiving Two Glasses means that the restaurant’s wine list is recognized as ‘Highly Recommended’ based upon a number of criteria.
The Wine List of the Year Awards were originally established by Tucker Seabrook in Australia in 1994 and are now the premier national awards for wine lists in that country.
The founders of the awards were impressed with the quality of the wine lists that already existed in China and felt that they should be recognized along with the talents of the sommeliers that were managing them. By doing so they felt that the awards could help serve both as a motivator and a guide to drive further development of many wine lists across greater China’s hospitality and tourism industries.
Now an anticipated event on the industry calendar, the awards have helped to lift the standard of the nation’s Wine Lists whilst at the same time recognizing and rewarding the talents of sommeliers.
Guests can enjoy more than 520 international wines including many from China, on Dynasty 8’s award-winning wine list.

04mgm macau launches art-themed photography competition

MGM Macau is launching the “Discovering Art at MGM” Photography Competition for families to have a chance to win prizes while enjoying the spectacle of Joana Vasconcelos’ Valkyrie Octopus and other art pieces displayed throughout the hotel. Co-organized with the Photographic Society of Macao, the competition aims to heighten the appreciation of fine arts, while encouraging the public to show their talents.
The “Discovering Art at MGM” Photography Competition welcomes all locals and tourists to send in photos taken of the artworks displayed all around the hotel, such as the Valkyrie Octopus, the Lion Sculptures, as well as the art pieces by Salvador Dalí and Dale Chihuly. The competition is divided into two groups: the Mobile Device Group and the Camera Group. Images will be judged on originality, technical excellence, composition, overall impact and artistic merit.
Winners of the Mobile Device Group and the Camera Group will receive one set of round-trip air tickets from Hong Kong to Lisbon and accommodation, plus a Certificate of Award. The 1st and 2nd Runner-ups of both groups will receive cash prizes up to MOP8,000 and a Certificate of Award. Other awards include cash prizes up to MOP3,000 and MGM Macau Dining Vouchers of up to MOP800.
