An Emirates Airbus A380 has completed a 14,203km nonstop flight from Dubai to Auckland, the longest in the world.
Passengers are set to spend 17 hours and 15 minutes in the air on the return journey from Auckland to Dubai in the longest duration flight, according to reports.
A Qantas Airbus A380 held the previous record for the longest nonstop flight, with an 8,578-mile (13,804km) journey from Dallas/Ft. Worth to Sydney.
Emirates will break its own record later this month with a new Dubai-Panama City service, which will take 17 hours and 35 minutes.
Emirates will thus hold the record for operating the two longest flights in the world, with the Dubai-Auckland and Dubai-Panama City routes. Qantas’ DFW-Sydney route ranks third.
