After she was appointed by the Secretary for Economy and Finance as Coordinator of the Supporting Office to the Permanent Secretariat of the Forum for Economic and Trade Cooperation between China and Portuguese-Speaking Countries (Macau) on November 3, an official inauguration ceremony for Ms Cristina Morais was held on November 6 in the presence of the Secretary for Economy and Finance, Lionel Leong.
During the ceremony, Mr Leong said, ”Cristina Morais is the ideal candidate to take over the office given her dedication over the years, which allowed her to accumulate extensive knowledge and experience in foreign trade, as well as particular knowledge and experience related to economic and commercial services between China and the Portuguese-speaking countries.” He also stressed that Ms Morais has organized and participated in various economic and trade activities of great importance, which have given her a privileged perspective on world trade. He complimented her by highlighting her professional and linguistic expertise, as well as her leadership capabilities, which make her the ideal person to pursue the development of Forum Macau.
Cristina Morais thanked the secretary for his trust shown in appointing her to the position.
“It is a great challenge for me, but I face it in a very positive way and I will count on the help of everyone to take care of all the tasks we have at hand,” she said. “The main priority for next year will be to organize the 5th Forum Macau Ministerial Conference as well other seminars and conferences,” she added.
Cristina Morais is fluent in Chinese, Portuguese and English. She also holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Macau, and a Degree in Business Management from the University of Washington, USA. She has been working since 1991 in the Macau Economic Service (DSE), and has led the bureau’s external relations department since 2009.  RM
