The Social Welfare Bureau (IAS) is accepting requests for the provisional disabled subsidy. In a statement, IAS recalled that those applying for subsidies should collect all necessary documents and choose the nearest place to their residences to hand in the application. People with reduced mobility can appoint another person to take care of the bureaucratic work. The provisional disabled subsidy of MOP3.180 is a measure taken by IAS to further support people with disabilities. To be eligible, applicants should have been Macau residents for at least the last seven years; having made at least 36 monthly contributions for the Social Security Fund, and having been temporarily or permanently refrained from performing their job. Requests can be filed until December 2015.

Man electrocuted in  Gongbei fountain

A man in his 20’s has died after trying to wash his feet in a fountain in the Zhuhai Port Plaza. However, the final cause of death is yet to be determined by autopsy, and the deceased is yet to be identified. The accident occurred on July 13 at around 9.30 p.m. A security guard told Macau Daily that he heard somebody collapse in the fountain and later witnessed a group of policemen arrive at the scene. The authorities sealed the area and asked people to leave. Since the man did not carry any identification documents on him, the authorities were unable to identify the man or contact his relatives. Due to the hot weather, the security guard claimed that some people like to wash their feet in the fountain. Some homeless people even take showers in it. Although there was a sign at the fountain that told people it was dangerous to enter the water, some Zhuhai residents have told the Zhuhai TV that the warning was obviously insufficient.

Worker seriously burnt in Ferry Terminal accident

A mainland worker in his 30s has suffered second-degree burns from a fire that occurred in the switch room in the Outer Harbor Ferry Terminal. The Fire Service has revealed that the man was changing the distribution box and the electricity meter when the accident took place. Forty percent of his body, including his upper body and face, was burnt. The worker was sent to the Kiang Wu Hospital for treatment. The Companhia de Electricidade de Macau (CEM) and the Labour Affairs Bureau were both notified about the incident. CEM has already dispatched staff to inspect the site. The Marine and Water Bureau has said that the accident caused a 10 to 15 minute power outage in the waiting area of the terminal.
