Airport achieves 18 percent jump in half-year revenue

The Macau International Airport Company Limited (CAM) has released its first half year result, which saw a rise in revenue, cargo traffic, aircraft movements and passenger numbers.
CAM’s total revenue in the first two quarters of this year has reached MOP510 million, an 18 percent increase compared to the same period last year. The aeronautical revenues and non-aeronautical revenues have risen by 21.5 and 17.5 percent respectively.
In terms of the amount of passengers and aircrafts the Macau International Airport (MIA) has handled, there are 2.61 million passengers and 25,000 aircraft movements recorded for the first two quarters, recording an increase of 10.7 percent and 8.6 percent respectively with both completing 51 percent of the whole-year target.
General aviation has reached 53 percent of the 2014 target with 1,206 aircraft movements, rising 29.7 percent y-o-y.
The cargo traffic also reached 13,000 tones in the first half of 2014, hitting 51 percent of the annual target and recording a 3.7 percent y-o-y increase.
Moreover, CAM has signed a new Sub-Concession Contract of the Fixed Base Operator’s (FBO) Services to the Business/General Aviation with Macau Business Aviation Center Limited.
The evaluation work of Duty Free sub concession at MIA has also been completed and come to the approval stage.
In the first half of 2014, there were a total of 120 engineering programs that were carried out, which include extension projects, security engineering, the new CIP Lounge, new restaurants and other construction upgrades, as well as the IT project and Green Airport.
So far, MIA is operating 38 routes from Macau. In the first half of 2014, two new routes to Dalian, China and Siem Reap, Cambodia were launched.
In the second half of the year, MIA seeks to further update its facilities to coordinate “Green Airport” and “Virtual Airport”.  JPL
