Elderly man falls victim to part-time online shopping scam

A local elderly man reportedly fell victim to an online “part-time shopping” scam, losing about MOP200,000. At the end of 2025, he was contacted via social media by a woman who promised earnings of 7.2% per transaction. Following her instructions, he opened a USD account and deposited $25,000, performing transactions over a month. When asked to pay over $30,000 for “shopping tasks,” he discovered the scam after family consultation and reported the case to police.
