Financial reserve hits MOP647 billion in June

Macau’s financial reserve closed June with a balance of over MOP647.3 billion, marking a slight increase of around 1% compared with May, equivalent to an addition of nearly MOP6.8 billion to the SAR’s savings.
After ending 2024 with a balance of MOP616.2 billion. a 6.1% rise from the end of 2023, the financial reserve has maintained a steady growth pace.
By the end of January 2025, it stood at MOP621.5 billion, sustaining strong financial growth through June.
Between December 2024 and June 2025 alone, the reserve increased by more than 5%, adding over MOP31 billion, representing 87% of the total growth seen from 2023 to 2024.
Since the end of the pandemic in December 2022, the reserve has grown by nearly MOP90 billion, equivalent to almost one year of Macau’s public expenditure.
Although the reserve served as the government’s financial backbone during the three pandemic years, supporting budgetary needs and population aid, its peak was recorded in February 2021 at MOP663.5 billion. LV
