Macau has collected gaming tax revenues in the first two months of 2024 of nearly MOP14.8 billion, Financial Services Bureau data reveals, a surge of 142.9% year-on-year. February tax receipts alone reached MOP7.46 billion, up 1.6% month-on-month. The long-term gains stem from Macau’s new 10-year gaming concession system and a 40% effective tax on gross gaming revenue (GGR). However, a delay often exists between GGR recording and tax collection, rendering direct comparisons imperfect. Macau’s bullish 2024 budget projected MOP83.61 billion in gaming tax.
