SSM reports first imported Zika case of 2026

Macau has recorded its first imported Zika virus case of 2026, involving a 53-year-old local man who recently traveled to Malaysia, the Health Bureau (SSM) said. The patient is in stable condition, and no symptoms have been reported among household members or travel companions. The man developed fever, muscle pain, and rash after returning to Macau and was later diagnosed through blood tests. Authorities will conduct mosquito control measures near his residence and workplace, and have urged residents traveling to tropical regions to strengthen anti-mosquito precautions.
