Gov’t bans chicken products from Lisbon

Macau has implemented a ban on the importation of chicken meat and products from Lisbon, Portugal, following recent avian influenza outbreaks. The Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) announced the decision Tuesday, mirroring Hong Kong’s earlier ban aimed at safeguarding public health. The IAM stated that applications for imports from affected areas would not be approved, citing concerns over bird flu incidents in Portugal, Hungary, and South Korea. Portugal reported a highly pathogenic avian influenza outbreak in Sintra, prompting immediate control and eradication actions.
