The government is continuing the “Old Diesel Vehicle Replacement Subsidy Program” with a third phase to phase out high-pollution vehicles, in line with the national “dual-carbon” targets.
Following the success of the two previous subsidy programs, the new phase aims to implement policies that improve air quality while expanding the scope of eligible recipients to encourage more vehicle owners to replace older, higher-polluting diesel vehicles.
The program will have a two-year application period, allowing ease and adequate time for applicants, targeting owners of old diesel vehicles registered and recorded on or before December 31, 2019, but excluding those whose vehicles were deregistered on or after December 15, 2025, and subsequently re-registered.
The application period for the first year runs from January 5, 2026, to January 4, 2027, with subsidy amounts ranging from MOP25,000 to MOP155,000.
The application period for the second year is from January 5, 2027, to January 4, 2028, with subsidies ranging from MOP15,000 to MOP93,000. Ricaela Diputado
