House of Dancing Water earns medal for tourism contributions

Melco Resorts & Entertainment Chairman and CEO Lawrence Ho acknowledged The House of Dancing Water as a key example of Macau’s economic diversification beyond gaming after the production received the 2025 Medal of Merit – Tourism from the Macau SAR Government on Friday.

Ho accepted the award on behalf of the team, calling it a huge honor that recognizes the show’s role in enriching Macau’s entertainment and tourism sectors.

“The achievement belongs to the extraordinary cast and crew […] Their collective brilliance remains the very soul of this work,” said Ho.

Launched in 2010 at City of Dreams, the water-based spectacle paused during the Covid-19 pandemic before relaunching in May 2024 to great success.

Speaking to the press on the sidelines of the awards ceremony, Ho said, “Since we restarted last year, it’s been a huge success. So I think it shows that non-gaming big investments do have a place in Macau, and also within the Greater Bay Area.”

“So, I think going forward, we’ll continue to work with the Macau government in terms of the diversification drive, hoping to attract more international visitors now, and hopefully, we’ll come up with more new concepts, more shows, more attractions, at our properties to continue to grow that market,” he added.

Directed by Giuliano Peparini, the reimagined production features nearly 300 cast and crew from more than 30 countries. It immerses audiences in a journey of love, destiny, and heroism with new characters, visual effects, and stage technology.

Melco said that it will continue partnering with the government to draw more international visitors and position Macau as a world center of tourism and leisure. NS
