IAM shortlists bidders for 20 new stalls at Taipa Market

The Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) has published the shortlist of bidders for 20 stalls available for lease at Taipa Market, spanning light food, cultural and creative products, and coffee and tea offerings.

The stalls are set to begin trial operations in the fourth quarter of this year, with priority rankings published on the IAM website.

According to an IAM statement issued yesterday, a total of 437 bids were submitted for the 20 stalls, but 38 were disqualified due to incomplete documents or failure to comply with bidding rules.

The 399 bids that qualified were assessed on five criteria: operating strategy, experience and qualifications, daily operating hours, diversity of goods, and convenience of payment methods.

The published ranking list will guide the selection of successful candidates, who will then receive notification and attend a briefing to clarify the next steps in the leasing process.

The stalls are divided into three groups by size and location. Two groups of light food and cultural stalls are located on the first floor, while the largest – a coffee and tea shop covering 34 square meters –  is located on the second floor.

Monthly rents for these stalls, which range in size from 8.1 to 34 square meters, vary between MOP486 and MOP2,040, according to earlier reporting.

With this layout and rental structure, the bureau aims to attract young entrepreneurs with innovative ideas to invigorate Taipa Market, enhancing both the diversity of offerings and the quality of service at the venue.

IAM adds that the rental contracts, which last three years, include ongoing performance monitoring and may be terminated if standards are not met. NS
