International arrivals grow at slightly slower pace amid April tourism increase

Visitor arrivals increased by 11.3% year over year to 3,441,396 in April 2026, according to information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC).
According to the DSEC, international visitor arrivals also surged during the same period, but by a smaller margin than the overall figure, rising 10.5%.
In the same data release, the DSEC noted that the increase in visitor arrivals was almost entirely due to same-day visitors (2,095,953), which rose by 19.4%, while overnight visitors (1,345,443) edged up by 0.6% year over year.
As a result, the average length of stay for visitors decreased by 0.1 day to 1.0 day, while the average length of stay for overnight visitors (2.3 days) remained unchanged.
As regards the source of visitors, those from the Chinese mainland increased by 13.1% to 2,405,286 in April, with those traveling under the Individual Visit Scheme (1,235,806) rising by 16.1%.

January-April period consolidates trend
Analysis of the first four months of the year shows that visitor arrivals rose by 13.1% year over year to 14,655,300, with same-day visitors accounting for 9,103,273, almost two-thirds of the total, and recording 20.1% growth. Overnight visitors (5,552,027) also grew, but only by 3.3%.
The number of international visitors from January to April totaled 1,009,892, up 10.7% compared to 2025. This figure is in line with the goal of the Macao Government Tourism Office, which, as deputy director Cheng Wai Tong said earlier this month, is to attract 3 million international visitors this year.
In 2025, the number of international visitors stood at 2.7 million.
Meanwhile, during the period, the cumulative average length of stay of visitors decreased by 0.1 day year over year to 1.0 day, while that of overnight visitors (2.2 days) decreased by 0.1 day.
